Description :

Two, artist signed, green marbled glazed and etched/carved terracotta geometeic vases from San Juan de Oriente, Nicaragua.

  • Squatty vase 4" tall x 8" wide. This is a striking example of pottery by Nicaraguan artist Paulo Gutierrez, from the renowned ceramic center of San Juan de Oriente. The piece features a low, wide-bodied form with a narrow neck, showcasing Gutierrez's signature intricate carved and etched designs. The predominantly dark, mottled green glaze is segmented by bands of textured, reddish-brown terracotta, creating a dynamic geometric pattern around the vessel's circumference. Delicate incised lines further accentuate the design, highlighting the artist's meticulous craftsmanship. This piece exemplifies the contemporary interpretations of traditional techniques for which Gutierrez is known. Note -There are a couple white spots (paint?) that should come off
  • Taller vase is 8" tall x 5" wide. It features a eye catching checker board grid pattern and etched lines detail adding to the appeal of this piece. It is also done in green marbled glaze and textured terracotta. The artist signature is difficult to make out.
