Description :
Design: Pattern features a stylized gold wheat center motif with a fluted, gold-trimmed edge on a smooth cream porcelain base.Identification: While Royal Tettau produced a few variations of wheat patterns (such as their Platinum Wheat or ROT268 lines), this particular gold-trim version is highly collectible due to its scarce, immediate post-war production window. Mid-20th-century German dinnerware. Based on the "US ZONE" marking on the backstamp, this set is dated to the immediate post-World War II period. Manufactured between 1946 and 1949. The "US Zone" Mark: Following World War II, Germany was partitioned into four occupation zones. The "U.S. Zone" mark was required on goods exported from the American-occupied region (which included Bavaria, where Tettau is located) to identify their origin during this period of military administration. The Manufacturer: Royal Tettau (Königlich privilegierte Porzellanfabrik Tettau) is Bavaria’s oldest existing porcelain factory, established in 1794 with the support of the famous naturalist Alexander von Humboldt. The factory is well-regarded for its high-quality, translucent porcelain. The pattern, which features delicate gold wheat motifs, is a classic design style popular in mid-century porcelain. Because Royal Tettau is a well-established and respected brand, pieces from this era are often sought after by collectors interested in post-war European history and traditional fine china. Set includes: (8) 10.25" dinner plates (8) 8.25" salad plates (8) 5.75" saucers (7) coffee/tea cups (one extra included but has small rim chip). (8) 6.25" dessert plates One 8" x 6" gravy boat One 10" x 7" serving bowl One 9" covered casserole
