Description :
True antique gem crafted from now‑rare, beautifully grained natural rosewood. This Patent Erard London grand piano, serial number 12558, was produced circa 1868–1869, during the height of the Late Victorian era. At that time, the Érard London factory operated its own serial number sequence separate from Paris, and instruments in the mid‑12,000 range represent some of the finest craftsmanship of the period. Built in London, England, this 7' 2" grand features the hallmarks of Erard’s mid‑19th‑century excellence: richly figured rosewood veneer, a solid iron tension‑bar frame, and the legendary Érard double‑escapement repetition action—the 1821 innovation that forever changed piano performance and remains foundational in modern grand pianos. A small section of top veneer and the prop bar have been replaced; all other components remain original. The piano plays beautifully, offering a warm, resonant voice that reflects its remarkable preservation and heritage. Founded in Paris in 1777 by Sébastien Érard, the firm is one of the most prestigious and influential piano makers in history. Their instruments were favored by Liszt, Chopin, and leading European conservatories. Inside this piano, the “O. Martin” workshop stamp identifies the Erard London craftsman responsible for critical soundboard and structural finishing—an internal quality‑control signature that confirms authentic late‑19th‑century London‑workshop construction. Dimensions: 7' 2" length; 53.25" wide; 37" tall (71" fully opened). Do not bid if you do not plan to purchase. If you bid, you MUST be available/arrange for pick-up of purchases on the pick-up date unless you have made prior shipping arrangements. Bring necessary tools and help for picking up large items. Loading assistance is NOT available. Some items may be located on a 2nd floor or in an out building.
Invoices are emailed to winning bidders once the sale has completely closed.Full payment must be made by 8:00 p.m. the day after auction closes. If total payment is not received before the pick-up date & time, items will be forfeited, and bidding privileges revoked.
Pick-up information will be on the invoice e-mailed after the auction closes.All items not picked up during the designated times will be considered abandoned and may be donated or resold. When possible, and at our sole discretion, an alternate pick-up time may be arranged. If this is possible, an appropriate fee will be charged.
A Buyer's Premium and Sales Tax are added to the winning bid amount when invoiced. Sales tax is waived for licensed re-sellers.
