Description :
Exceptional, heirloom example of a late 19th-century or early 20th-century antique drop-front secretary desk. The piece exhibits features characteristic of early Golden Oak era (circa 1890–1910). It is built from quarter-sawn oak, highly prized during the turn of the century for its prominent, beautiful "flake" grain patterns visible on the front panel and drawers. The top features an ornamental, stylized pediment with carved floral or leaf motifs, flanked by two side storage cabinets and an open central shelf. It retains the iconic bright green felt or baize writing surface, a classic choice of the period to provide a smooth, cushioned area for pen-and-ink writing. The desk is supported by a simple, sturdy trestle base with a bottom stretcher shelf, leaning slightly toward the functional, clean lines of the early Arts and Crafts movement. This interior original artwork features a rustic still-life composition executed in a texture chalk-like pastel style on canvas board, signed Cooper. Also includes a classic Victorian side chair, which was a highly popular style during the late 19th-century 'Aesthetic Movement' (circa 1870–1890). Craftsmen turned native hardwoods like maple or birch to realistically mimic tropical bamboo nodes, celebrating the era's obsession with East Asian design. Chair dimensions: 17.5" wide x 15.5" deep x 32" tall. Due to the size and weight of this item, placing a bid confirms your agreement to arrive with two or more able-bodied helpers, an appropriately sized vehicle (please review measurements), and any necessary moving equipment such as a dolly or hand truck. Failure to arrive prepared may result in forfeiture of the item without refund. Please note: there will be no staff on-site to assist with moving or loading.

Bring necessary tools and help for picking up large items. Loading assistance is NOT available. Some items may be located on a 2nd floor or in an out building.
Invoices are emailed to winning bidders once the sale has completely closed.Full payment must be made by 8:00 p.m. the day after auction closes. If total payment is not received before the pick-up date & time, items will be forfeited, and bidding privileges revoked.
Pick-up information will be on the invoice e-mailed after the auction closes.All items not picked up during the designated times will be considered abandoned and may be donated or resold. When possible, and at our sole discretion, an alternate pick-up time may be arranged. If this is possible, an appropriate fee will be charged.
A Buyer's Premium and Sales Tax are added to the winning bid amount when invoiced. Sales tax is waived for licensed re-sellers.
